May 2013 Commencement

ATTENTION WINTER 2013 AND SPRING/SUMMER 2013 GRADUATES
If you plan on participting in the May 2013 Commencement ceremonies and have not yet picked up your graduate access pass and guest tickets you may still do so at one of the alternate ticket distribution dates listed below.
Tuesday, April 9 from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Oakland Center, 33737 West Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills. Directions to the Oakland Center may be found at www.oakland.wayne.edu/center/location/php.
Wednesday, April 17 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Academic Administration Building (AAB), 5700 Cass Avenue (located on the corner of Cass and Palmer).
Tuesday, April 30 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Academic Administration Building (AAB), 5700 Cass Avenue (corner of Cass and Palmer). THIS IS THE LAST DAY ACCESS PASSES AND GUEST TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED!
You must have completed the online degree application and be eligible to graduate in the Winter '13 or Spring/Summer '13 term.
A student photo ID and signature is required before passes and tickets will be released. Tickets will not be released without proper identification. All graduates and guests must have an access pass and guest ticket for admission to Ford Field and the ceremony.
Caps and gowns may be purchased at Barnes & Noble during regular business hours. For information contact Barnes & Noble at 313-577-2436.
Wayne State University confers degrees for Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer terms and honors its graduates by hosting Commencement ceremonies in December and May. The ceremonies are for students completing degrees only - Ph.D., Ed.,D., Doctoral, Master's and Bachelor's.
The May Commencement ceremonies will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Ford Field. Ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please see the complete ceremony schedule for the time of your ceremony.
If appropriate deadlines are met, students completing their degree requirements in one of the following terms may participate in the May 2013 Commencement ceremonies:
All Ph.D./Ed.D. candidates must check with their advisor and/or dean's office in the Graduate School or the College of Education for the exact requirements needed to complete in order to participate in the May Commencement ceremonies.
Spring/Summer Ph.D. candidates are not eligible to participate in the May Commencement ceremony.

Review you STARS Degree Audit in Pipeline and contact your academic advisor if you are unsure if all your requirements have been met.
APPLY FOR YOUR DEGREE
All degree candidates must apply to have their degrees certified in Pipeline. To submit an application, log into Pipeline, click on the "Student" tab and select "Apply for Degree or Certificate" from the Student Records menu. There is a $40 non-refundable certification fee that must be paid before your application for degree certification can by considered. Payment must be made at the time of application either by credit card or electronic check. If you are currently registered, you can also choose to add the fee to your student account. NOTE: You will have to reapply and pay the $40 fee again if you do not complete your degree requirements in the term of application so please make sure to check with your advisor before applying.
WINTER 2013 - APPLICATION DEADLINE/PROCESS
If you will be completing your degree requirements in the Winter 2013 term you must complete the online Degree Application through Pipeline by Friday, February 8, 2013. You will then be invited to participate in the May 2013 commencement ceremony.
SPRING/SUMMER 2013 - APPLICATION DEADLINE/PROCESS
If you will be completing your degree requirements in the Spring/Summer term and would like to participate in the May 2013 commencement ceremony the deadline to complete the Degree Application through Pipeline is Friday, March 8, 2013. Completing the online application by this date will ensure your eligibility to participate in the May 2013 commencement ceremony.
The March 8 deadline applies to students receiving an Ed.D., Doctor of Audiology, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master's and Bachelor's Degrees. Spring/Summer Ph.D. candidates are not eligible to participate in the May commencement ceremony.
Spring/Summer applicants who choose not to participate in the May commencement ceremony the deadline to apply for degree certification is Friday, June 7, 2013. You will then be invited to particpate in the December 2013 commencement ceremony.
Be sure to apply for the term in which you will be completing your degree. If you choose the incorrect term you will have to reapply and pay the graduation fee again.
Walking in commencement does not mean you have completed your degree requirements. Please verify with both your major advisor in your department and your general education advisor at the University Advising Center that you will be completing all your requirements in the correct term.
Ph.D. Candidates - Please contact the Graduate School at email@example.com for exact requirements you need to complete in order to participate in commencement.
Ed.D. Candidates - Plesae contact your advisor and the College of Education Graduate Advising Office at 577-1635 for the exact requirements you need to complete in order to participate in commencement.
Graduates are required to have a "Graduate Access Pass" which allows them admission to the stadium and entry to the field. Graduates will not be allowed on the field without an access pass. The passes will be available during Grad Expo (see information below).
Tickets are required for guests. Each eligible student may receive up to (15) guest tickets. Guest admission to Ford Field is by ticket only. Children ages two and under do not require a ticket.
TICKET DISTRIBUTION DATES AND LOCATIONS
Information regarding ticket distribution for the May 2013 Commencement ceremonies is listed below (see Grad Expo). Please note: A photo identification and signature is required before passes and tickets will be released. Tickets will not be released without proper identification.The WSU commencement Office does not sell tickets or replace lost tickets.
Grad Expo will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 19, 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Welcome Center and Barnes & Noble Bookstore located on the northwest corner of Woodward and Warren Avenues.
It is strongly encouraged that eligible students attend Grad Expo to take care of all their commencement needs at one time.

- Speak with a representative from the Office of the Registrar
- Order graduation announcements
- Purchase diploma frame

ALTERNATE TICKET DISTRIBUTION DATES AND LOCATIONS
For those students who are unable to attend Grad Expo acess passes and guest tickets will be distributed on the following dates and locations:

- Wednesday, April 3 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Academic Administration Building, 5700 Cass Ave. (corner of Cass and Palmer)

If you are unable to attend Grad Expo or the additional ticket distribution dates please make arrangements to have your tickets picked up by a family member or friend. You must send a signed permission letter with the name of the person your tickets may be released to and a copy of your photo identification before tickets will be released.
ACCESS PASSES AND GUEST TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL GRADUATES AND GUESTS ATTENDING COMMENCEMENT.
